Pushya Nakshatra captured in Kataka Raasi/ Cancer Zodiac with mobile astrophotography
Kataka raashi, Cancer Zodiac has the last paadam of Punarvasu nakshatra. The Pushya Nakshatra is a complete lunar mansion in this Raashi / Zodiac. The ruling deity of this Nakshatra is Brihaspati. Lotus is the symbol of this Nakshatra. Kataka is in the form of crab.

The Hindu mythology story associated with Brihaspathi can be found here. Moon God / Lord Chandra’s son is Budhan. Budhan’s son was Pururavas (Ila, an androgyne deity is his mother) who established the Chandravamsha Dynasty (Lunar Dynasty) in Hindu mythology.
Let us have a look at the Cancer constellation captured and do the mapping to get the Pushya Nakshatra.
Pushya Nakshatra is considered to have three stars traditionally. The following table provides a list of stars, which qualify as Pushya from brightness point of view, location with reference to moon traverse band and distance from previous Nakshatra.
Alpha Cancri — Altarf — +3.52
Theta Cancri — 5.5 magnitude — not captured
Delta cancri — 5.1- Asellus australis

Only two stars were captured and the third star was not as bright on the given day to capture.
If a single star has to be identified as Pushya (Tishya), it is Al Tarf.
Next we will see the star Aslesha/ Aayilyam. Until then, have a great day :-)
